Contract Types, Compensation Fields, and an Editor That Stopped Freezing

Wednesday, March 11, 2026
Employment section showing contract type and compensation fields alongside a responsive editor

A candidate's work history had four fields: job title, company, dates, and a description. Nothing about whether they were permanent or freelance. Nothing about what they earned.

Recruiters track that stuff anyway, just somewhere else. Spreadsheets, notes, memory. We added it to the candidate profile so you don't have to.

Contract types and compensation

Each employment entry now has optional fields for contract type and compensation.

Contract type. When the AI extracts a CV and the resume mentions the arrangement, it picks the right one. You can always change it.

  • Permanent
  • Fixed-term
  • Freelance
  • Contractor
  • Temporary
  • Payroll
  • Internship
  • Secondment

Compensation. A number with a currency (EUR, GBP, USD) and a period. Permanent roles show salary per month or per year. Freelance and contractor roles show an hourly rate. Internships skip compensation entirely.

The fields adapt to the contract type. Pick "freelance" and you get an hourly rate field. Pick "permanent" and it switches to salary. This isn't something you configure. It just follows the contract type.

Both fields show up in the editor and export to PDF. Existing candidates still work. The fields are optional, so nothing breaks.

The editor stopped freezing

Some of you reported that the app would lock up on longer CVs. Scrolling stuttered, clicks wouldn't register, and sometimes the whole tab just gave up on life for a few seconds.

I'm going to get slightly technical for one paragraph. Bear with me.

The PDF was being rendered on the same thread as the rest of the app. So every time you changed a letter, the browser had to redraw the entire PDF while also trying to keep the editor responsive. On a four-page CV, that's like asking someone to write an email while simultaneously doing their taxes. Something's going to freeze.

We moved the PDF rendering to a separate background process. The editor and the PDF no longer fight over the same resources. That's it. That's the fix.

You don't need to do anything. If you had freezing issues before, they're gone.

Other fixes

Anonymization covers the About Me section. Toggling anonymous mode used to scrub names and companies but could leave identifying details in the summary text. The AI now rewrites the About Me section during anonymization too.

Duplicate candidates keep their vacancy context. When you import a candidate who already exists, but from a different vacancy, the duplicate resolution flow now carries the vacancy through. You won't lose the link between the import and the vacancy it came from.

Employment metadata translates. Contract types and other employment fields get translated along with everything else when you translate a CV.
